There’s a silly but mildly amusing article about this in today’s Guardian. What Brooker and everyone else seems to have neglected to mention is that right now this stuff doesn’t work. I spent a while on Saturday morning playing with Layar on my G1. I lost patience long before any useful information arrived. The damn thing spends what seems to be an age updating its ‘featured’ and ‘popular’ layers, but actually getting and displaying information about where you are is just too hard for it. Plus it wants you to fiddle with settings even to tell you stuff you already know. Oh well, suppose I’ll keep trying for the moment.
