Peugot, Nissan, Renault and Jaguar all offer driver selectable speed controls – a bit like cruise control, with an over-ride function so that you could exceed your pre-defined limit if you needed to. More or less invisible to users, policy-makers etc. Surely this means that the platform is there to encourage speed reduction. The Peugot implementation at least includes an ‘overspeed warning’ – an audible tone when you exceed the speed limit.
